9 Waynesville Businesses to Purchase from this Christmas (2017)

Last year, I wrote a post called “9 Waynesville Businesses to Purchase from this Christmas” and people seemed to like it pretty well. I’ve re-written it this year, with a tad bit more planning, and am excited to present to you my 2017 edition of Waynesville Businesses to Purchase from this Christmas.

P.S. Can we call this this official Haywood Holiday County Shopping Guide???

I put a lot of thought into each individual business and hope to highlight their attributes and products so that at least one of them can meet your holiday shopping needs. Let me know in the comments which business is your favorite!

1. Verbena Soap Company

This natural soap and body care company is now located in Downton Canton, a couple doors down from Southern Porch. They make a wide variety of soaps great for combating normal skin, oily skin, combination skin and acne-prone skin. They also have luxurious bath bombs, bath salts, body butters, and delicious-smelling candles — not to mention their all-natural pet products as well. This is the one-stop-shop for all of your bath needs, while supporting local business owners. I know I’d like to receive another one of their rose-scented bath bombs (infused with real rose petals) in my stocking this year!

2.  Seven Silver Seas

Seven Silver Seas, or the “purple house” as I call it, is located at the entrance of Maggie Valley… and it’s hard to miss. This purple house has all sorts of wonderful, gift-able items that are great for the stylish woman in your life. Half of the store displays fine, sterling silver jewelry and gems, while the other half is full of eclectic clothes, bags, décor items, and more! Some of my favorite vegan leather purses have come from Seven Silver Seas, and I find my favorite incense there too! To top it all off, they hand write your receipts with a purple pen and bag/gift wrap your items in purple wrapping.

Naturally, I have to promote my own shop (sorry, not sorry). If you didn’t already know, I have an Etsy shop where I make hand-made knit goods such as the popular pony-tail hat, fox hat, and fingerless gloves. I offer a variety of high-quality, hand-knit, customizable accessories that make the perfect gift for that special someone in your life. Plus, I’m running a Cyber Monday sale where you can receive 50% your order of $50+ (with code “CYBERMONDAY” at checkout). I also sell unique items in Nettie’s Bakery and Commerce Street Mercantile (next to Panacea) that I don’t sell online.

4. The Turquoise Elephant Boutique

The Turquoise Elephant Boutique is located at 1360 Asheville Road in Waynesville (next to the bike shop). This is a new, cute, preppy boutique that can match any woman’s style! They offer a variety of clothing, accessories and home décor, and they also offer monogramming! Find them on Facebook or Instagram to see all of their new products! Here’s my favorite item that I’ve purchased from them so far.

5. The Chocolate Bear

I feel like most people from Haywood County know The Chocolate Bear. It’s that little, delicious shop located on Main Street in Waynesville. They’re officially a candy store, but I think I can speak for most when I say that what everyone loves is their chocolate truffles. After a nice dinner on Main Street, I always enjoy stopping by The Chocolate Bear for a small dessert truffle. The Chocolate Bear’s treats can also make mouth-watering gifts, great for the in-laws or co-workers, or that special someone.

6. Blue Ridge Books

Blue Ridge Books is currently located on Main Street in Waynesville, but they are in the process of moving to Hazelwood Village. This small-town bookstore is the ideal place to find gifts for that book-lover in your life. They have a variety of new and used books, magazines, reading accessories, and gift cards. When buying books, I want to emphasize the importance of buying from small, local shops, like Blue Ridge Books!

7. Bearwaters Brewing

Located in Downtown Canton, right along the Pigeon River, Bearwaters Brewing is a high-class-meets-country styled brewery that offers a wide variety of beer on tap as well as a numerous amount of wine. Their food, made by the Pigeon River Grill, is phenomenal, making this a great place to stop if you’re just looking for a bite to eat! Bearwaters offers a friendly environment fit for drinking or non-drinking customers of all ages. They offer gift cards that you can purchase for the beer connoisseur or food lover in your life.

8. Toki Tattoo

Toki Tattoo is another Canton business that has seriously impressed me. Owned by artist Emily, Toki Tattoo offers a relaxed, homey environment for your next tattoo appointment. Tattoos aren’t for everyone — but a gift card to Toki can be a great gift for someone who is saving up for new ink! Toki currently houses multiple artists for your own style preferences. If tattoos aren’t your thing, they also sell shirts, prints and canvas art in the shop. Check out my recent custom tattoo by Emily!

9. Leap Frog Tours

Leap Frog Tours is a hospitable transportation and touring service for the greater Western North Carolina area. Owned by my good friend Kim Turpin, their mission is to help you enjoy, explore and experience all that is Western North Carolina. They offer numerous tours such as their popular beer tours, wine tours, art tours and ghost tours. They provide all of your transportation for the tour, making this an easy way to get a day-trip experience of the mountains. Gift your friend group or close family with a specialized tour to enjoy together!

There you have it — nine more businesses you can add to your shopping list this year. Did I miss any? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Christmas!
