Spring brings a lot of things but, most of all, it brings the feeling of a fresh new start. As I talked about in my April newsletter, this month is especially great for me because it’s my birthday — so it truly feels like a new start for me! One way to feel like you’re getting a fresh start is to spruce up your room, house, or apartment to make it feel like a brand new space. There’s no better way to breathe in a sigh of satisfaction than sitting in a spruced up room, but you don’t have to go through a lot of trouble to do it in the process. Here are 7 quick & easy ways to reinvent your room for spring.
1. Add some fresh flowers.
Nothing makes a space feel clean and new than some beautiful, fresh flowers adorning it. My personal favorite place to pick up flowers is the farmer’s market, but Trader Joe’s also offers an awesome selection of flowers and plants that will give your room a little more oxygen. Put them in a pretty vase or a simple mason jar (my choice, for a more rustic look) and add them to a dreary corner or window sill for the best effect.
2. Buy a new scent.
With the change in seasons comes the change of scent. One thing I always enjoy doing is going to Bath & Body Works during a sale and getting a large, 3-wick candle for half the price, in the scent of my choice. Changing up the scent of a room makes it feel especially new. Here’s my favorite Bath & Body Works candle right now.
3. Put in a Bluetooth speaker.
Don’t let this intimidate you — I got my Bluetooth speaker in Target’s dollar section for only $5. By adding a speaker (put it in a higher space, so the sound spreads better) makes the room feel larger and more grandiose when you’re playing music or your favorite audiobook or podcast. Here’s one similar to mine!
4. Change out your bedspread.
It sounds like something your grandmother would do, but she does it for good reason. Change your bedspread. Get a light-toned bedspread that will fit the warmer seasons of spring and summer. Paired with the sun streaming through your windows, a light-colored bedspread will make your bedroom feel lighter, cleaner, and larger. Shop my bedspread here .
5. Hang up new curtains.
Along a similar line, hang up new curtains that allow in a lot of light, like these ones here . The added light will help your room feel less drab and more airy, just in time for spring.
6. Rearrange your furniture.
Rearranging furniture does two things for you: (1) it helps completely transform a room and (2) it gives you time to thoroughly vacuum and mop/condition your floors so that they’re very clean. Enough said.
If there’s ever a perfect time to paint, it’s during the spring months, when it’s the perfect temperature. This isn’t necessarily the easiest solution, but painting isn’t terribly costly and it really does drastically change a room. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to re-arrange your wall décor and furniture.
