8 More Waynesville Businesses to Purchase from this Christmas (+ a master guide!)

‘Tis the season for turkey, family and shopping. This is, without a doubt, my favorite time of the year and I couldn’t be more excited to start my Christmas shopping (although, let’s be honest, I started a while ago…). When shopping around, I always try to do two things: shop small and shop local.

By choosing to do the majority of your holiday shopping from local storefronts and businesses, you’re feeding your money directly back into the local economy and into the hands of honest, hardworking businesspeople. That’s why, this year, I’m returning with a third edition of Waynesville businesses that are great for your holiday shopping! In addition, I’ve created a downloadable + printable PDF of all the businesses I’ve written about over the last three years for you to download for easier accessibility. Keep reading to find out how to get it!

Dillsboro Chocolate Factory

Dillsboro Chocolate Factory is a family-owned confectionary that boasts award-winning chocolate, fudge, over 30 kinds of jerky, jelly bellies, handmade peanut brittle, pralines and more! They just opened their newest location in Downtown Waynesville where the Chocolate Bear used to be located, so they’re the perfect stop if you’re doing some shopping on Main Street. You can never go wrong with food – or chocolate! – as a gift. Check out their website here.

Soul Sister Boutique

Soul Sister Boutique is an online boutique run by two sisters – and two of my friends – Melissa and Bethany. Right now, they run sales mainly in their Facebook group, so it’s super easy and convenient to purchase from them (imagine doing all of your Christmas shopping without having to get off of your couch!). They offer eye-catching women’s clothes that are perfect for any young woman in your life (*hint, hint*). They’ve also recently introduced the option of hosting pop-up shops with them to get discounts when purchasing! Go join their Facebook group here.

Shopping from home appeal to you? Me too. Fortunately, the Internet makes it incredibly simple to purchase from local artisans without even leaving your home! In case you didn’t know, I have my very own Etsy shop where I sell vogue knitwear for the modern person. I make sturdy and stylish products that are easily customizable to your taste. Go check my shop out and get 10% off your purchase with the code “BLOGPOST” at checkout.

Designs by Janette

Another Etsy shop I’ve recently been obsessed with is Designs by Janette. I briefly met Janette at a street-fair this past summer where I purchased a hand-hammered ring from her that I have worn almost every day since. Based out of Sylva, she sells a lot of her dainty jewelry in her Etsy store. Her designs include mountain scenes, hand-stamped necklaces and simple – yet statement – pieces that are eye-catching and beautiful.

Tia Dana

Tia Dana is a store that has recently captured my heart on Main Street, Waynesville. What is it, you might ask? It’s a combination yarn store and lifestyle store, with eclectic décor and gifts – perfect for Christmas! The owner, Dana, describes it as “[her] version of a man cave,” offering handmade, American-made and fair-trade items – and lots and lots of yarn! It’s personally my new favorite store and is a one-stop shop for gifts for everyone in the family (their inappropriate dish-towels are my personal fave; one is pictured above). Check out Tia Dana’s website here.

Waynesville Yoga Center

I know what you’re thinking – how can I gift a yoga center to someone for Christmas? That’s just it… you kinda can. Have a yogi in your life or someone who wants to conquer a New Year’s Resolution? Purchase them a package of yoga classes to use, whenever they’d like. I’ve been going to the owner Jay’s yoga classes off-and-on for the last four years and her natural talent at teaching yoga shines through with her business and the other instructors at Waynesville Yoga Center. They also offer super cute apparel, yoga gear and smell-good stuff (yay, essential oils!) on top of private yoga classes and massage sessions. Check out their website here.

Pigeon River Mercantile

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t actually had the chance to step foot in this brand new shop, located in Downtown Canton. I have, however, been envying all the beautiful items they’ve been including on their Instagram. A fresh, new boutique, Pigeon River Mercantile offers stylish, Southern apparel and gifts for the modern man or woman that would make a nice addition under any Christmas tree.

Mountain Favors

I happened to spot Mountain Favors the other week on Main Street, Waynesville when I noticed it had replaced what used to be the Christmas shop that I loved to frequent. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed with this new store! Mountain Favors is owned by Amy Bennington, who was inspired by the local artisans of Western North Carolina to open a shop that showcased their work. Her store makes it simple to purchase local, handmade items from a variety of creators, all in one place! She also creates gourmet gift baskets and bags with these unique items. This is the perfect place for gift shopping, for literally anyone. Check out her website here.

Christmastime is about giving back, and one way you can do that is by choosing to purchase from locally-owned and operated businesses.
